Four “Gs” of Theology

Orignally posted on 09 July 2011

If you are keeping up with today's mobile telecommunication technology, you know that 3G means "Third Generation" standards for mobile phones and mobile devices of communication. Just recently a well-known telecommunications company came out with 4G or "Fourth Generation" which is a level of higher and faster response.

I am not that well educated on telecommunications technology, but I've spent over 50 years in the study of Bible and Theology. Not that I'm an expert, by any means, but I've found 4G Theology in GOD'S Holy Word. This 4G Theology is not fourth generation, it is to a thousand generations of them that obey HIM.

The first G is guilt. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD" (Romans 3:23). The Apostle Paul quotes from Psalm 14, "The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there are any who understand, who seek GOD. They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one!" (Psalm 14:2, 3).

It is the ministry of the HOLY SPIRIT to reprove the world of sin, of righteous and of judgment, that is HE brings a sense of conviction to us so that we may know the difference between right and wrong. (John 16:8).

The second G is grace! Actually, before there was guilt, there was grace. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of GOD, not of works, lest anyone should boast" (Ephesians 2:8,9). Here is an interesting verse: "For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through JESUS CHRIST" (John 1:17).

The third G is Godliness! Grace is a benevolent attribute of GOD and so imbedded in Godliness. "For the grace of GOD that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great GOD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from lawless deeds and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous of good works" (Titus 2:11-14). Three Gs are great!

The fourth G is Glory! "Nevertheless, when one turns to the LORD, the veil is taken away. Now the LORD is the SPIRIT; and where the SPIRIT of the LORD is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the LORD are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the SPIRIT of the LORD" (2 Corinthians 3:16-18).

Now, you have heard of Four G theology. Do you need to upgrade?
